Leave Your Mark

Philanthropia, or loving what it is to be human, was thought to be the key to civilization. As the practice of philanthropy evolved, it became more widely appreciated as the “private initiatives for the public good, focusing on the quality of life”.1

thumbprint cellars is passionately strengthening our community through charitable donations. We continue to support numerous non-profit organizations and local events, through financial contributions, services and in-kind donations. We are a small winery with a big heart, producing less than 5000 cases annually but offering thousands of dollars in annual gifts.

Leave Your Mark

October 1st starts the beginning of thumbprint cellars' “Leave Your Mark” campaign.
"Leave your Mark" is our twelve-week long initiative to raise awareness and funds for women and men’s health issues, and two Sonoma County charities; the Redwood Empire Food Bank and The Living Room.

Leave Your Mark's Canvas of Generosity
thumbprint cellars' “Leave your Mark” campaign culminated with the ‘official’ unveiling of a “Canvas of Generosity” created by our guests who Left their Mark and placed their colorful thumbprints on a special canvas in the tasting room. Join us in support of these causes and Leave Your Mark this coming fall!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month
And was a great time to kick off our “Leave your Mark” initiative. Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, which means a life has been changed forever in just about the same amount of time it takes to enjoy a taste of one wine. During October 2013 we raised just over $1000 in money and awareness for breast cancer research by partnering with the Pink Divas, a fundraising group from Sonoma County. Visitors made monetary donations, and purchased a ‘Save Second Base’ bracelet, with proceeds going directly to the Avon Foundation for Women.

November is Movember, Focusing on Men’s Health Issues
Movember’s annual charity drive encourages men to grow mustaches over the course of November and use their facial hair as conversation starters to raise awareness and money for men's health causes, such as research to treat testicular and prostate cancers. Come Grow with Us and join team thumbstache! “Grow a Mo,” or make a donation at team thumbstache’s official Movember page,” http://us.movember.com/team/967737.

November begins the Wine Walk Healdsburg Alliance's Canned Food Drive Benefiting the Redwood Empire Food Bank
thumbprint cellars and Downtown Healdsburg wineries joined together in support of an organization that touches so many lives in our community. Guests who visit any of the participating Downtown wineries and donate a contribution of cash or canned food will enjoy a complimentary tasting from that participating winery.

Cooking for Cash, Chili Cook-Off event
On November 15th, 2014 the Wine Walk Healdsburg Alliance will 'officially' kick-off the food drive by hosting, "Cooking for Cash" a chili cook-off competition and collective complimentary wine tasting event. Guests sampled and voted for their favorite chili, as well as enjoyed entertainment, special offers and more. Entry to the November 15th event can be made at any one of the participating wineries by donating a monetary contribution. More details can be found at winewalkhealdsburg.com.

December's Focus is The Living Room
In December, we collect cash donations and donate a portion of tasting fees to The Living Room, a daytime drop-in center in Sonoma County that specifically serves homeless and at-risk women and their children. Many people come upon hard times at one point or another in their lives, for many reasons, and it’s important to us that we help where we can, when we can. 2014 will be the fifth year we’ve donated to this organization and they really do make a difference to those in need in our community.
