Giving this Holiday Season…

We can’t believe that the holidays are upon us! We REALLY can’t believe that it is the middle of November (yikes!). As the holidays rapidly approach it makes us think how lucky so many of us are to have so much.

We have been fortunate to be able to help The Living Room, Sonoma County’s Only Daytime Drop-In Shelter for women and children who are without homes, raise money around the Holidays for the past two years.

“The Living Room is a daytime drop-in center that provides a safe haven to ease the adversity of homelessness in a kind and caring atmosphere. For women and children who are homeless and at risk, The Living Room provides comfort, support, resources and services to meet basic needs and to assist in attaining self-sufficiency and stability in their lives.” (www.thelivingroomsc.org)

Last year Scott & Erica were generous enough to donate $400 so that the Living Room could put on their annual Christmas celebration which includes a sit down meal, gifts for all of the kids and even a visit from Santa! Scott and Erica are always SOOOO giving!

I, Tess, also had the opportunity to volunteer and cook the meal for the women and children last year. It took place in a packed auditorium and, having just had a child myself which gave me this maternal connection, proved to be one of the most emotional things I have ever done. Knowing that for many of these families this one-day would be the only holiday celebration that they would be getting was a really hard thought to swallow.

It is an outstanding organization, one that we hope we can all support.

This year we are hoping to raise even more money for The Living Room by asking Downtown Healdsburg businesses to ask their customers to lighten their pockets and purses and donate their change (or more) to The Living Room.

We have created signs and passed out containers in hopes of getting our community behind this amazing cause.

This year they need $500. It sounds like such a minimal number when you realize that $500 will feed 200 women and children.

In addition to working with the downtown businesses we are also reaching out to our Facebook fans and loyal thumbprint followers asking for everyone to give a little... $20, $10 even $5 would help. If we all give a little The Living Room can give a lot!

My (Katie's) parents have already donated $100... go John and Lorna!!

We have set up a PayPal account, in which you can donate any amount. Visit our Facebook page,  http://www.facebook.com/thumbprintcellarswine, to find the PayPal account. We hope you will help us make sure that Christmas happens this year at The Living Room.

Cheers & Ho Ho Hos,
